- Effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process and care management principles within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting
- Provide care appropriate to the age related needs of patients served in the assigned area of practice
- Responsible and accountable for maintaining BLS and ACLS
- Performing triage assessments on the patients and classifying them using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) a five-level ED triage algorithm that provides clinically relevant stratification of patients into five groups from 1 (most urgent) to 5 (least urgent) on the basis of acuity and resource needs
- Executes evidence based nursing practice actions to care for the patient based on the determined acuity level
- Responsible for the initiation of the standardized protocol orders outlined in the facility memorandum
- Initiates interdisciplinary referrals for patients who require specialized services such as social work, mental health, diabetes education and wound care
