- Reads hardness number from calibrated scale on equipment or converts scale reading to hardness number, using formula or conversion chart
- May cut cross section of sample part and examine part under microscope to determine hardness depth
- Maintain regular communication with administrative staff with reference to job status, progress, problems
- Conducts basic testing (speedy moisture, moisture)
- Operate inspection machines and read the results of the tests
Qualifications for inspector level
- Minimum 10 years of DOD IG experience
- A high school degree or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Level II
