Sitter Job Description
- Ensures that patient care issues are directed to the nurse
- Alerts the nurse of any patient request to leave the room for any reason
- Remains in assigned area for relief time unless arranged with the nurse in charge
- Does not attempt to stop the patient and immediately informs the RN/LPN in the event that the patient
- Remains in constant visual surveillance of the patient until relieved by another staff member
- Performs other duties as directed by charge nurse or management

- Informs the department manager of the assigned unit of hours worked so that hours can be changed to that nursing unit

- Escort the individual to inpatient hospital treatments and testing

- Requires interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain continuous relationships with patients, visitors and other SMHC employees
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association preferred
Sitter Job Description
- Immediately reports changes in patient conditions
- Performs direct observation of patients for the purpose of identification of behaviors that are potentially hazardous to self or others and reports such observations to appropriate personnel in the appropriate time frame
