Responsibilities for dog trainer
- Alert store management immediately if any animal, reptile, bird or fish is abused, in need of medical attention or other special care
- Train dogs of all sizes and temperaments on any training or behavior modification topics, including but not limited to, basic obedience, recall, dog to dog aggression, human aggression, loose leash walking, vet handling/cooperative care, separation anxiety, and leash reactivity
- Positive reinforcement (R+) force-free methods only
- Coach clients of various learning styles on how to effectively train their own dogs to transfer the behaviors you have taught their dog
- Provide feedback to owners and document dog’s progress at the end of each dog training session

Qualifications for dog trainer
- Minimum of 3 years of experience training dogs professionally
- CPDT, KPA, or IACP certification strongly preferred
- Experience with force-free dog training, most behavior modification topics and using reinforcers of various types based on pet needs
- Experience teaching group dog training classes
- Background in public speaking, presenting, and facilitating a group
- Comfort level with technology and the ability to coach others on troubleshooting issues
