- Dispense patients with single vision, Bifocal and multifocal lenses, this will include paediatrics, complex and low vision patients
- To offer general dispensing advice and guidance to students and colleagues where appropriate
- Undertake the checking and focimetery of spectacles
- Open all clinic post and deliveries, this will include checking contact lenses are correct against patient records
- To notify patients when spectacles and/or contact lenses are ready, or communicate and delays or changes to their order, as appropriate
- To book in new stock frames on to the practice software Optix (full training will be given)
- To assist with stock control, ensuring adequate security and levels of stock are maintained and stock is distributed as required
- To deputise for the dispensing optician when required
- To occasionally perform contact lens insertion and removal teaches (including both soft and hard lenses)
- Responsible for inspecting the eyewear and the coordinated order prior to delivery Dispense eyewear using the E.A.R.N
Qualifications for optical dispenser
- Contact Lens experience preferred
- ABO (American Board of Opticianry) certification preferred
- Computer knowledge and ability to enter Rx's into computerized system and place retail eyeglass orders

- One (1) year program plus one (1) year recent experience or two (2) years equivalent experience under direction of a Licensed Optician, Optometrist, or Opthalmologist performing Optometry Dispenser work required
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived
- ABO Certification.Certificate of completion in Optical Dispensing from an accredited Ophthalmic Optics school
- Willing to travel to all other facilities within 50 mile
- 1) year recent experience or two (2) years equivalent experience under direction of a Licensed Optician, Optometrist, or Ophthalmologist performing Optometry Dispenser work required
Qualifications for optical dispenser
- Additional hours may be required based operational need according to the provisions of the NUHW contract
