Responsibilities for Nurse Anesthetist Cover Letter

Nurse anesthetist responsible for post anesthesia care, which may include: assisting in patient care in the post anesthesia care unit and follow up of patients receiving anesthetic care.

Certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners

Administering anesthetic drugs including IV and inhalation induction agents, muscle relaxants, narcotics, inhalation agents, , managing patient airways, monitoring vital signs, managing of continuous regional anesthetics and nerve blocks, and terminating anesthesia at the end of the procedure
Accompanying patient to the recovery area, remain with the patient until adequate respiratory function is demonstrated, provide appropriate hand off to recovery room staff, complete medical record, and verify all control substances have been accounted for
Assisting recovery area nurses in caring for patients who develop respiratory distress, cardiac arrest, shock and other post-operative conditions
Functioning as part of the cardiac arrest team and accepting assignments in the preoperative clinic
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is authorized to perform routine duties on a regular and repetitive basis
Completes anesthesia pre-operative evaluation of patient which includes documenting pertinent physical examination and medical history, including auscultation of the heart and lung and thorough airway assessment
