• Cannulates patients with AVG (arteriovenous graft) and AVF (arteriovenous fistula) under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician
• Initiates hemodialysis via AVG or AVF under the direction of a registered nurse
• Sets parameters for the hemodialysis treatment after consultation with the RN
• Terminates hemodialysis via AVG or AVF under the supervision of an RN

• Provide patient support by answering questions and addressing concerns such as orienting patient’s families to surroundings and demonstrating how to call for assistance
• Records vital signs and all other parameters of dialysis patients as per Kindred policy or state regulations or both
• Sets-up and monitors dialysis machines and reverse osmosis (RO) water system for correct functioning
• Performs safety checks as directed by the registered nurse prior to, during, and following dialysis treatment
• Certified Nurse Assistant / CNA, Certified Medical Assistant /CMA, or Phlebotomy certification preferred
• Machine start-up per unit policy
• Prepare patient for dialysis treatment, including setting patient up to EKG, O2 sat monitor and pre dialysis vital signs
• Patient assessment will be preformed by the dialysis RN
