  • Coordinate project design process with other design disciplines, construction managers, design consultants, and construction contractors
  • Generate equipment specifications and issue requisitions for mechanical equipment including diesel locomotive fueling systems, cranes, drop tables, sanding systems, air compressors, and pumps
  • Interact with national, state and local governmental bodies, i.e., EPA, Health Department, water commission, building and permits, utility company, fire marshal, etc., to ensure compliance with applicable codes and obtain necessary permits
  • Provide design assistance to railroad customers constructing facilities on Railroad property
  • Ensure proper implementation of compliance with national, state, and local EPA requirements, health codes and the Uniform Plumbing Code, OSHA rules and regulations, and other applicable local, state and national codes
  • Prepare new and revised standards, specifications, and design criteria for inclusion in Union Pacific's Design Standards
  • Provide technical expertise to construction management during project construction
  • Maintain electronic and paper as-built drawings and project records
  • Provide and prepare information and reports to customers on Mechanical and Facility engineering projects
  • Provide assistance in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of railroad mechanical systems and facilities
  • Develop and approve railroad standard safety procedures, i.e., natural gas pipe installation and air receiver testing
  • A Bachelor of Science - Engineering degree in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited Engineering school
