- Provide personal care to hospice patients consistent with their Plans of Care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Provide homemaker duties as defined by Medicare cleaning, organizing and food and water preparation consistent with the Plan of Care
- Report changes in the patient's condition or living situation as they relate to personal care needs
- Complete documentation in the patient medical record following established policies and procedures
- Participate in Interdisciplinary Team conferences
- Contribute to effective safety and risk management efforts by adhering to established policies and procedures, maintaining a safe environment, promoting accident prevention, and identifying and reporting potential liabilities
- Demonstrate advancement of aide practice through continuing education
- Assists with procedures ordered by physician and supervised by RN or PT, OT, ST as appropriate
- Maintains complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times regarding patient condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and interventions

Qualifications for hospice aide
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider) or ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required within 30 days of hire
- Current CPR, negative TB screen Hepatitis consent
- At least one (2) year as a Home health Aide or Nursing Assistant in a hospital, nursing home, hospice or home care agency
- Ability to complete Aide Competency Evaluation Skills Checklist
- CNA Certification through the state of Michigan
- Must be ambulatory, able to climb stairs, pull, push, and facilitate movement of the patient
