• Work in loud, cold, hot, wet and dry environments
• Able to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions)
• Able to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment
• Able to use computer programs for process control
• Monitors and samples well and groundwater upon entry to the system
• Conducts ongoing repairs to equipment, or shuts down equipment for more extensive maintenance and repair, activating alternate equipment as needed
• Activates pumps, valves and other processing equipment to move water through various treatment processes
• Assists Lead Operator with emergency procedures in the event of overflow or spill of chemicals or unpurified water
